Can I gift Python Morsels to someone?

Yes! You can't gift a recurring subscription directly, but you can buy a redemption code from the Gift Certificates page and give it to anyone.

You don't need a Python Morsels account to buy one: we'll email the code to the address you enter at checkout, and you can pass it along to whoever the gift is for.

What can I buy?

Redemption codes come in two sizes (current prices are on the Gift Certificates page):

  • 6 months of All Access
  • 12 months of All Access

All Access includes every exercise, screencast, article, and course, with no credits to think about.

The timed access starts when the code is redeemed, not when it's bought, so a gift bought today keeps its full value until the recipient is ready.

How does the gift get delivered?

After checkout, we email the redemption code to you (the buyer), usually within a minute. The email includes the code, a redemption link, and a note about what the code unlocks.

To give the gift, just forward that email, or send the code and link along however you like.

If you bought the code while logged into a Python Morsels account, your codes are also listed on the Gift Certificates page and your subscription page, with a Send to a friend link that emails the code to the recipient for you.

How do I redeem a code?

Visit the redemption page and enter your code (it's also linked as "Redeem Code" in the website footer).

You'll need a Python Morsels account to redeem: a free account works, and signing up requires no payment details. If you're new, you can also enter your code during signup and it will be applied automatically.

Once redeemed, exercise credits show up in your account right away and any screencast or All Access period starts immediately.

Do redemption codes expire?

No. A redemption code doesn't expire, so you can buy one now and hand it over later. Each code can only be redeemed once.

Exercise credits from a code never expire either, even if your subscription ends.

I already have a subscription. What does a code do for me?

Redemption codes stack with a subscription rather than replacing it:

  • Exercise credits are added to your account, and you can spend them whenever you like, now or after your subscription ends.
  • If you're on an active All Access subscription and redeem an All Access code, your paid term is extended by the code's duration, so nothing is wasted.
  • Codes keep working while your subscription is paused: credits and any code-granted access remain usable.

A code never changes your billing: if you're being billed, that's your subscription, not the code (see the new subscriber FAQ for more on that).
