Revisiting Exercises

You've attempted an exercise. Maybe you solved it, maybe you didn't.

Now it's time to decide whether you want to revisit the exercise.

After you submit your attempt, you'll visit the solution walk-through page. In the right-hand sidebar on the solution walk-through page, you'll see a button you can click to schedule an exercise revisit:

I recommend using this button for most exercises you solve.

Revisit often

When should you revisit?

I recommend revisiting...

1. When you didn't solve the base problem

2. When you were recommended bonuses but didn't solve them

3. When you think "I wished I thought of that" while reading the solution walk-through

4. When you found yourself using more hint links that you wanted to

5. When you want to practice solving the exercise again, but more quickly

What if those apply to you while you're revisiting?

Revisit again. Revisit as many times as you need.

Many exercises will benefit from 2-3 additional revisits after your initial attempt.

You will eventually hit the point of diminishing returns with your time, but it may take a few attempts. Revisiting exercises can be a very effective use of your time, even more effective than the same time spent attempting a brand new exercise.

Want to leave a note for your future self?

There are two revisit forms on the solution walk-through page. The one at the bottom of the page is a dual reflection and revisit form.

That bottom form allows you to specify which bonus you would like to solve up to, whether you would like to start from a completely blank solution or one of your existing solutions, and you can leave a message for your future self.
