Landing a Job with Python Morsels

Python Morsels isn't currently designed as an interview prep platform, but it can work pretty well for that purpose.

If you're using Python Morsels to prepare for interviews in Python-oriented roles, I recommend the following:

  • Make a habit: daily, weekly, or something in between... but make it a consistent habit!
  • If you're having trouble setting time aside, schedule it in your calendar and treat that time just as you would treat an interview appointment
  • Focus primarily on writing code: we solidify learning best by retrieving information from our heads, not by putting it in
  • Don't treat it as a competition: attempt an exercise, lock in your solution, read the walk through, and revisit the exercise later
  • Make a diagram/list of skills you need to practice with and update your notes on that list frequently (after each exercise)
  • Collect bookmarks for screencasts, articles, and code snippets you found insightful and occasionally review one at random
  • Feel you should revisit an exercise again (or even a few times)? Great! Use the right sidebar widget on the solution walk through
  • Find ways to quiz yourself: you discover a concept you need practice with, make a flash card: a physical one, one in Anki, or something else that will allow you to quiz yourself
